Please add the ability to create personal and organizational calendar exceptions via Data Loader. For future reference please use CR-428658.

What is the status of this request?  It is really too much admin overhead to ask users/resources to update their individual resource calendar, since typically, the request and approval process for taking time off is handled by HR systems, so people don't want to do this a 2nd time in Clarizen...

Hi Bart,

I just tested importing an exception via Data Loader and was able to do so. Example file:

I hope this helps.

Hello Roland,

thank you very much for your quick reply.  However I still need some help:

1.  When in data loader, what Item Type is associated with the table structure that you show in your reply

2. When I manually create a Calendar Exception in my own Resource calendar, there are additional fields that can be specfified, such as "Exception Type" , the Working/NonWorking radio button and the Recurrence related parameters.  Are those also available in Data Loader and if so, where can I find the column headers to be used in the Excel file.

3. As people are likely to change their holiday plans, what would be the best way to update a Clarizen Resource Calendar accordingly, i.e. How to keep the Clarizen resource calendar in sync with the HR system? I guess I could change the "EventCalendar" column header into "PK:EventCalendar" to make Data Loader understand it concerns an "update" instead of an "add".  But I would also need an option to delete a calendar exception.  Maybe that can be done by doing an update with the value "FALSE" in the column "AllDay" ?

4. Fiannly, to improve my understanding of the Data Loader tool, where can I learn/find documentation about the details of each of those Data Loader item types and what they can be used for. The Data Loader description that I can find on Clarizen Success ( https://success.clarizen.com/hc/en-us/articles/207281067-Data-Loader#h_7213587022421513504167346) describes the functionality of Data Loader in general, but seems to be lacking further documentation on those Item Types.

Thank you very much for your help

Hello Bart,

1) I used the Calendar Exception object:

2,4) I don't think there's anything else besides the article you mentioned and this:

3) In order to update existing exceptions, you'll likely need the External ID of an exception. You may be able to set it at creation. Deletion is done via the Delete object (you'll need the Item Type and External ID in order to delete something):

I hope this answers your questions.
