This would also be quite useful in reports. I've run into the need to use Excel numerous times because there's no way to do a count and put into a formula field.

Adding COUNT and COUNTIF functions
Clarizen currently does not have a COUNT or COUNTIF function. This function would be helpful when setting Eval Criteria in validation rules or even for field formulas. It can be done in Workflow Rules, but a user has to first define a variable.

Hi Jen, there is a field called "# of Direct Sub-Items" found on the Work Item module and this will give a $ChildrenCount and I was able to accomplish most of what I was looking to do. I'm not sure if this will help accomplish what you're seeking, but it would be worth a try in your report.
